Screen Printing

This week in my printmaking class we are going to learn how to do some screen printing. The process is very simple. You make a stencil out of a screen and then you push ink through it onto a medium. The most common form of screen printing is clothes. Almost every t shirt now is screen printed. So learning this technique really translates well into the real world. A lot of stuff that I have learned in art school I dont think that I will ever use in my everyday life. Most of the stuff that I've learned in printmaking I dont think that I will ever use again, but it is good to know how so much stuff is made.

Line Etching

The last project that I did in my printmaking class was a Line Etch. It wasn't the funnest project that i've done and honestly I regret the work that I turned in. I hated having to etch away at the metal and then putting it in the acid. It just wasn't all that fun for me. I made a line etch of some pretty tress and a long road that runs into the horizon, but it wasn't nearly as good as some of the other kids' in the class. Some kids really put a lot of effort into it and I appreciate some of the work that they created.

Printmaking class

This past week in my printmaking class we worked on mono printing. It is a printmaking style that is very similar to painting and is the easiest form of printmaking. For my project I think I have decided to do a mono print of some leaves and some trees. I have always enjoyed working with trees on my projects and I think that this form of printmaking would compliment my love for the forests!
